Celiac Disease in Children: No Small Problem
Children with untreated celiac disease are at special risk. Malnutrition during this period can have significant and lasting effects on growth and development. Failure to thrive in infants, learning difficulties in school-age children, irritability and behavioral difficulties, delayed puberty, and short stature are all common symptoms of celiac disease.
Children diagnosed with Celiac Disease must learn to live gluten-free during school, around athletic, social and family events and, eventually, on their own.
This section contains answers for frequently asked questions as well as suggestions from the kids themselves for enjoying a gluten-free life.
